Mary J. (Wheeler) O’Connell, passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family February 2, 2018. Mary was a lifelong resident of Hyde Park. She volunteered for the Boston Public Schools, and was President for the Friends of the Hyde Park Library. In 1977 she furthered her education and became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked as a health care professional in addition to being a wife and mother. A loving and supportive wife and mother, she was the beloved wife of 71 years to Thomas J. O’Connell Jr. of Hyde Park, the devoted mother of William D. O'Connell and his partner Thom of Otis, MaryAnn Dolezsar and Charles Lopresti of West Tisbury, Thomas J. O’Connell III and his wife Pat of Lyndeborough NH, John O’Connell and Patricia Murphy of Hyde Park, Robert O’Connell and his wife Sharon of Milton, Frances Millian and Stephen Mannix of Harwich, and Edward O’Connell and his wife Joanne of Mansfield. Doting Grand Mother to Bridget Seifert and husband Matt, John Dolezsar, Shawn O’Connell, Nina Rusnock and her husband Brett, Colleen O’Connell, Bobby O'Connell, Mary Clare O’Connell, and Jed, Kerrin and Kristina O’Connell and Great Grandchildren, Sofia and Theodore Seifert and Rowan Rusnock. Loving sister to Joan McLellan and her husband Bob of Brewster and the sister to the late Ruth Wheeler, Robert Wheeler, Nancy Guide and husband John of Winthrop, Thomas Wheeler and wife Theresa of Easton, Edward Wheeler of Stoughton and George Wheeler of Hyde Park and her late sister-in-law Maureen Schaffner. Survived by her in-laws Lyla Collins and husband Hugh of Marshfield, Leona Wheeler of Stoughton, and John Schaffner of Abington. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, Milton Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 10 am. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 4 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
