Obituary

Mr. Edward F. “Ted” Mulvey, of Taunton, Ma. and Lighthouse Point, Fla. entered into rest Tuesday, January 30 following a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Joan C. (Walsh) Mulvey for 66 years. He was born 89 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late William J. and Helen “Nellie” (Russell) Mulvey, Sr. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident, spending winters in Lighthouse Point following his retirement. Prior to his retirement, Ted was employed as a Technician and a Supervisor for the former New England Telephone and A.T. & T. for 35 years. Following his retirement, Ted worked as a Code Enforcement Officer for the Taunton Board of Health for several years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the latter part of World War II. He was a Life Member of Msgr. James Coyle Council #82, Knights of Columbus, and was also a member of the Telephone, Pioneers, and the Taunton Boys and Girls Club, where he served as a longtime Board Member. He enjoyed playing golf, reading, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton.

In addition to his wife, he leaves: 1 son: Edward Mulvey and his wife, Julia of Greensboro, N.C.; 1 daughter: Joyce Fogerty and her husband, Dan of Taunton; 2 sisters: Helen Goldbach of Palm Coast, Fla., and Nancy Foster of Orlando, Fla.; 3 grandchildren: Erin Morley of Taunton, Jake Mulvey of Park City, Utah, and Luke Mulvey of Greensboro, N.C., and several nieces and nephews. Ted was also the brother of the late William J. Mulvey, Jr., and Maureen Henault.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Wednesday, February 14 at 11:00 A.M. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held prior to the Service, Wednesday, from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M.
