Mrs. Jean P. (Black) Wallace a resident of Amesbury, formerly of Medford and wife of the late Alexander Wallace, passed away at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport on Tuesday morning, January 30, 2018. She was 99 years old.
?Born in Govan, Scotland, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Paterson) Black. Mrs. Wallace was retired from W. R. Grace Company where she was employed as a Lab Tech, for many years. She also had worked for Tufts University and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Medford. Above all, Jean was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. With her lilting Scottish accent and keen sense of humor, she will be dearly missed.
Jean is survived by her loving children; Alexandra M. and her husband Dennis W. Gibson of Chelmsford and Elizabeth A. Wallace of Newburyport, grandchildren; Lyndsey Saulnier and husband Robert of Norfolk, MA, Lauren Gibson of LA, Alex Wallace of New Orleans and Taylor Jean Gibson of Nashua, NH, niece and nephew; Douglas and his wife Rhonda Wallace of Woburn, Dorothy Ditmer of California, great niece; Adrianne Hanusek and Victoria Ditmer, brother-in-law; George and his wife Rita Wallace of Woburn, god-daughter Mandy and her husband Adam Clemente of Woburn and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Beverly Jean Wallace, sister of the late Anna Atter and aunt of the late Marion Coogan.
Her Funeral Service will be celebrated in the First Baptist Church, 29 Oakland Street, Medford, on Friday, February 9, 2018, at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Thursday, February 8, 2018, 4 to 8 PM. Interment will be held in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody. Donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the Elizabeth Calsey House, 286 Lion’s Mouth Road, Amesbury, MA 01913.
