Obituary

CHICOPEE – Patricia F. (Gavin) Shappley, 80, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, January 18, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Chicopee Gardens in Chicopee surrounded by all the memories that she loved and cherished. She was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts on November 7, 1937, a beloved daughter of the late Donald W. and Marjorie A. (Quill) Gavin. She was raised in Haverhill, graduated from Haverhill schools and moved to Chicopee in the 1950’s where she resided the remainder of her life. She was employed in the Food Services Department at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. An active member of the Moose Family Center in Chicopee, she often volunteered at many of their functions and also was a member of their Academy of Friendship of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed gardening and attending many local Bingo games. Above all, she loved spending time with her beloved family and her many dear friends. She leaves her two loving children, Dawn L. Maxwell and her husband, Richard, of Chicopee, and Shawn M. Shappley and his wife, Kimberly, of Henderson, TN; her three cherished granddaughters, Fallon Billeter and her husband, Andrew, Bailey Harrold and her husband, Issac, and Tiffany Shappley; her three cherished great-granddaughters, Emalyn and Layla Harrold and Delaney Patricia Billeter; her dear brother, Donald Gavin of Newton, NH; her two dear sisters, Maureen Jordan of Palm Harbor, FL and Judith Duffy and her husband, Joseph, of Chicopee; her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and friends; and her beloved cat, Callie. In addition to her beloved parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother-in-law, Jack Jordan; and her dear sister-in-law, Janet Gavin. Her family will receive friends on Saturday morning, February 17, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 11:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.). The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Moose Charities at the Moose Family Center, 244 Fuller Road, Chicopee, MA 01020.
