Gail A. Thornton, of Westwood, formerly of Canton passed away January 27th. Born in Boston, she was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High Class of 1973. She was an avid writer and a published poet and wrote a memoir of her life. She also enjoyed making jewelry and was a talented musician that played the flute. She loved the outdoors and the ocean and previously worked at the Trailside Museum in Milton and on a Boston Harbor Whale Watch Boat. She was a passionate advocate for those with psychological and physical disabilities.
Beloved mother of Jesse Anderson and his wife Ines Roque of Cumberland, RI, Ethan Anderson and his wife Andrea Laing of Stoughton and Eric Anderson of Winthrop. Grandmother of Marissa, Claire, Aly and Otis Anderson. Longtime companion of Francis M. Shedd of Westwood. Sister of Sherry Thornton of Missoula, Montana, Wayne Thornton of Hanson, and Gwynne Tubb of McDonough GA. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services private.
