Carrie W. (Watlington) Gonsalves, 83, of New Bedford died January 27, 2018 at Brandon Woods of New Bedford.
She was born in Danville, VA, the daughter of the late Alfred Fitzgerald and Helen Watlington.
Carrie received her Associates Degree in Business Administration from Fisher Junior College.
While living in New York she married her husband Jose R. Pellot, who was serving in the U.S. Air Force, and traveled with him while he served. She lived in Puerto Rico for a time before returning to New York and eventually settling in New Bedford. She later married Maurice Gonsalves.
Carrie was a member of the Union Baptist Church.
She was formerly employed by U.S. Ringbinder, Star Store, the Standard-Times and Titleist and Footjoy for 28 years until retirement. She enjoyed volunteering as a Foster Grandparent and with the American Red Cross.
Survivors include her son, Emmitt E.J. Watlington; her daughter, Sheila G. Coleman; her grandchildren, Jason Watlington, Cory Watlington and Michael Coleman; her great-grandchildren, Aaron Bookman, Jason Watlington, Jr., Aurora Watlington, Julia Watlington, Kevin Cardona and Corey Watlington.
She was the great-grandmother of the late Kailynn Bookman.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 2nd at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Her family will receive guests on Friday morning from 10 - 11 AM prior to her service. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
