Obituary

Sadly, Heaven welcomed a beautiful special Angel Sunday, January 28. Josephine Marie (Ciampo) Graney died peacefully in the loving care of her family at her home in Billerica after a courageous 3 year battle with cancer at the age of 79.
She was born and raised in Woburn, MA, and graduated with honors from the class of 1956. She married her high school sweetheart in 1958, and then moved to Tewksbury for 33 years where she raised her family on Vale Street.
She enjoyed her career as part of the human resources family at Choate hospital, RHCW, and Winchester Hospital since the age of 17 and continued to work per diem after her retirement at age 75. She was once a member of the "Red Hat Society" and volunteered at the Tewksbury Senior Center as well as the Burlington Playhouse. She enjoyed her weekends and vacations at her house on Lake Winnipesaukee, always known as "the cottage", for the past 50+ years. She joins her late father and mother, Anthony T. and Anna M. (Angrisano) Ciampo, her mother-in-law Mary B. Graney, sister-in-law Mary Graney Carey and brother-in-law John Garden. She leaves behind her former husband Francis Graney Sr., and four children, Debra Graney and her companion Tim Fram of Billerica whom she lived with, Karen Foskitt of Merrimack NH, Donna Tziolis and her companion Bob Vieira of Tyngsboro, and Francis "Frankie" Graney Jr. from Salem, OR. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Brittany Foskitt, Katherine Graney, Anastasios Tziolis, and Joseph Graney, and one great grandson, Jacob Mayou.
She is also survived by four sisters, Gerry McGowan of Woburn, Janet Garden of Burlington, Anna Mc Sweeney of Malden, June McCarthy of Alpine, WY, two brothers- Anthony Ciampo of Burlington, and William “Billy” Ciampo of Naples, Fl, One sister in law, Donna Ciampo, three brother-in-law's, Donald McGowan, John Mc Sweeney, Chuck McCarthy, her very best friend Jan Macpherson of Tewksbury, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, co-workers and her 99 year old Aunt Josephine Angrisano. She was lovingly known as, Mom, Mama Jo, Grandma Jo,G Jo, Grammy, Jo, ...Jo Jo, and Auntie.
She will be sadly missed by everyone who ever had the pleasure to meet and know her and fondly remembered for the amazing person she was.
Visiting hours Thursday, Feb. 1, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral will begin Friday at 11:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass, Friday, Feb. 2, at 12:00 Noon in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury. Burial will follow at Tewksbury Cemetery.
