Obituary

QUINEBAUG, CT – Vivien S. (Sherby) Janakowski, 89, of 31 Old Turnpike Road, died peacefully Sunday, October 30, in Matulaitis Nursing Home, Putnam. Her husband of 60 years, John J. Janakowski, died in 2001.

She leaves a daughter, Carol J. Canty, with whom she lived, and a grandson, Jason J. Canty of
Stratford, CT. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Benoit, and by a brother, Raymond Sherby.

She was born and raised in Spencer, a daughter of Edward Sherby and Antoinette “Nettie” (Ledoux) Sherby Benoit. She lived in Webster before moving to Dudley in 1946. She lived in Quinebaug since 1972. She graduated from David Prouty High School in Spencer.

Mrs. Janakowski was an executive secretary and purchaing agent at Anglo Fabrics Company, Inc. in Webster for 55 years before she retired. She was a communicant of Saint Andrew Bobola Church in Dudley.

The funeral will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew Bobola Church, 54 West Main St., Dudley. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. A calling hour will be from 9:15 to 10:15 AM Thursday, Nov. 3, at the funeral home.
