Obituary



It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Linda E. (Donahue) Daly, 67, of Halifax. Surrounded by her loving family, she passed away at her home on January 25th.

Linda was born and raised in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School with the class of 1968. She was married to the love of her life, Jack Daly, for 43 years. Working for the state’s Department of Transitional Assistance for 42 years, she retired as the Assistant Director in the Division of Hearings.

Linda had many hobbies and interests including her love for animals, especially her cocker spaniels Cohan and Cayenne, and her African grey parrot, Theo. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, crafts, making jewelry, fishing, traveling and was always learning or doing something new. She was the former Queen Mother of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed wearing her boas and big hats. With her husband Jack, she enjoyed soaking up the sun and spending winters in Florida and summers camping at the Bourne Scenic Park. She had friends everywhere she went.

Linda was the kindest, sweetest and most generous person. Her smile lit up a room and she made everything that she did, fun. She had an incredible sense of humor and had the gift to make light of any situation. She spent her entire life caring for others – something that brought her great joy. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Linda will be remembered for her beautiful smile, big heart and thoughtful and kind ways.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband, John “Jack” Daly and loving daughter, Holly Daly of Halifax; her mother Lorraine (Lincoln) Donahue; her siblings Robert F. Donahue Jr., Steven Donahue and his wife Cheryl (Baker) Donahue and Kathie (Donahue) Duggan and her husband Dan Duggan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her father, Robert F. Donahue, her brother, Peter Donahue and his late wife, Anne (Nancy) Donahue, and her nephew, Justin Donahue.

Visitation will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home in Kingston on Tuesday January 30th from 9-11:30 am followed by a celebration of life. Burial to follow at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MSPCA or St. Jude’s.
