Obituary

Sophie (Seconda) Viveiros, 84, of Dartmouth and Mattapoisett died June 12, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.

She was the wife of Carlos J. Viveiros, with whom she recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary, and daughter of the late Jan and Mary (Szelag) Seconda.

Mrs. Viveiros was born in New Bedford and had lived in Dartmouth and Mattapoisett for most of her life.

She was an active member of North Baptist Church for a number of years, where she sang in the choir, served as Chairman of the Flower Committee and participated in the activities of the Women's Federation.

Mrs. Viveiros was formerly employed as a retail sales clerk at Star Store and Outlet Company.

She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother whose loving care and devotion placed her at the center of family life.

Mrs. Viveiros was an authentic homemaker, a skilled seamstress and a renowned cook whose other interests included knitting, gardening and reading. She especially enjoyed many summers spent at Brandt Beach in Mattapoisett and fall visits to the Berkshires.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Joyce L. "Jody" Heck of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren, Alison C. Heck of Mattapoisett and Amanda M. Heck of New Bedford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was the sister of the late Valeria Perry, Louise Rzeszutek and John Seconda.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Saturday, June 15th at 10 AM.

Visiting hours Friday, June 14th from 4-8 PM.
