Florence (Kosior) Powers, 95 of Fall River passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was wife of the late John J. Powers, Jr.
Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (Zwolinski) Kosior, she had lived in Fall River for most of her life. She was a Communicant of the former St. Williams Church, Fall River, where she was also a member of the Women's Guild. Mrs. Powers was a member of the Fall River Grange #492 and the Highland Square Dancing Club of Westport, and she was also a Den Mother for Cub Scouts.
Survivors include her children: Jo-Ann L. Polak and her late husband Robert of Fall River, Jean C. Harrington and her husband James of Bethel Park, PA and John J. Powers, III and his wife Deborah of Raleigh, NC; a step-daughter: Rose Arruda of Swansea; 5 grandchildren: Robert Polak, Jr. and his wife Amy, Jennifer Galego and her husband Jason, Jill Harrington, Katie Powers and John Powers; 3 great grandchildren: Jessica Galego, Justin Galego and Amber Polak; 3 step-grandchildren: George Arruda, Bill Arruda and Paula Arruda; and many nieces and nephews.
She was mother of the late Susan Staples and sister of the late Josephine Friemuth, Ameila Smith and Charlotte Crane.
Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, January 29, 2018 at Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River at 10:00 AM.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5 - 7 PM at the Potter Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Polish National Catholic Cemetery, Fall River.
