Obituary

Aaron James McNamee, 39, of New Bedford passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday January 23, 2018.
Born in New Bedford, he was the loving son of James A. and Arlene (Arruda) McNamee.  He attended Friends Academy, and graduated from St. Mary's School, Bishop Stang High School, and Anna Maria College with honors in Criminal Justice.
Aaron had been employed as a case manager and Program Director for Catholic Social Services for 15 years, and had worked for Community Action for Better Housing (CABH) for the past year. He was dedicated to his work and to those whom he served.
He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.
He is survived by his parents, Arlene and Jim; his sister, Julie Gillespie and her husband James of Orlando, FL; his three nieces, Molly Elizabeth, Nora Anne, and Lillian Alice Gillespie; and several cousins.
He was the grandson of the late Herbert "Bucky" and Alice Arruda, and William and Katherine McNamee.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday January 29, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth.  Visiting hours will be on Sunday January 28, 2018 from 5-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Sister Rose House/C.S.S., 75 Division St., New Bedford, MA 02744.  For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
