LEICESTER: Donald R. Roy, Sr., 89, of West Street in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester died Wednesday, January 24 in UMass Memorial Hospital after an illness.
His wife Elizabeth A. (Corazzini) Roy died in 1995. He leaves a son Donald R. Roy, Jr. of Cherry Valley, a granddaughter Crystal A. St. Francis of Cherry Valley, two great grandchildren; Anthony & Erica St. Francis, a brother Robert Roy of Sturbridge. He was predeceased by a daughter Linda A. White.
Don worked at the former Elfskin Mfg. in Cherry Valley before retiring, he later owned and operated Crystal's House of Bargains in Southbridge for many years.
Born in Spencer, he was the son of William and Clarinda (Racine) Roy. He was a longtime member of the Leicester Knights of Columbus Council 4528. He also was a licensed auctioneer and worked bingo at the Spencer K.of C. for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph-St. Pius X Parish.
His funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 26 from the MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main St., Leicester with a funeral mass at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 1153 Main St., Leicester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester A calling hour will precede the services from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home.
