Elizabeth “Aunty Betty” McKinnon, age 85, of Weymouth passed away on January 23, 2018. Betty was born, raised, and educated in Boston. After high school she worked for R.H. Stearns department store in Bosto for many years. Betty then worked for, and retired from, CNA Insurance Company. She moved to Weymouth in 1972 where she has resided ever since. Betty was a woman of faith who enjoyed getting deeply involved at St. Albert the Great Parish in Weymouth, where she worked effortlessly to keep the church open and occupied in 2004. Betty enjoyed travelling most especially the many trips with parishioners from St. Francis Xavier Parish in Weymouth. Betty was a loyal aunt and friend who will be missed for her generosity and compassion.
Betty is the loving sister to John McKinnon and his wife Eileen of Norwood, Robert McKinnon and his wife Ruth of Melrose, and the late Claire Pace, Richard McKinnon and Mary Michalowski. Betty is also survived by her niece and caregiver Terri Pace of Weymouth and many other loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Betty on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 2-6pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home on Friday morning at 8:30am for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass in honor of Betty’s life which will be held at 9:30am at St. Albert the Great Parish, Weymouth. Interment will immediately follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to either St. Joseph’s Indian School at 1301 N Main St, Chamberlain, SD 57325 or St. Jude’s Children Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
