Joe Ann Parkerson Hayes, 61, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Marshall Kennedy officiating. Mrs. Hayes will laid to rest at Oaky Grove Church Cemetery in Berrien County. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 25, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Buck Parkerson Jr., D. J. Parkerson, David Parkerson and Robbie Mercer will be among those serving as pallbearers.
Born April 12, 1956 in Tift County, Mrs. Hayes was the daughter of the late William Brock Parkerson and Mattie Lou Monk Woods. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Gordon Hayes, Jr.; two brothers, Albert Parkerson and Johnny Parkerson; and one sister, Mary Lou Parkerson. She was formerly employed at Tift Regional Medical Center and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
Mrs. Hayes is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Karen Hayes of Tifton; one daughter, Melissa Hayes Benefield and her fiancé, Robbie Mercer of Tifton; one brother, Henry Parkerson of Tifton; one sister, Faye Tawzer of Tifton; and five grandchildren; Jayden Eaton, Taylor Schumacher, Matthew Benefield, Claudia Hayes and Gabe Hayes.
