Guinan, Carmelita C. (Leahy) of Quincy, died January 21, 2018.
Carmelita adored her family and loved being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a devout Catholic and was involved with South Shore Hospice giving communion, St. Ann’s Church as a longtime Eucharistic Minister and member of the Ladies of Sodality. She worked for the MBTA in Jamaica Plain for many years and where she met her husband Jack. Carmelita helped those who couldn’t fend for themselves. She had a belief and peace of mind that helping others returned a joy to her 10 fold. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Beloved wife of the late John F. Guinan Jr. Loving mother of John F. Guinan III and his wife Karen of Dedham. Cherished grandmother of John Guinan and Lindsay Wright and her husband Kenny. Devoted great grandmother of Hannah Foley and Mackenzie Wright. Sister of the late Paul, Eddie, Robert, and Joseph Leahy and Marie Glynn. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 5-8 PM in the P.E. Murray - F.J. Higgins - George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St., West Roxbury. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Dedham at 10 AM. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Roslindale. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carmelita may be made to VNA Care, 199 Rosewood Dr. St. 180, Danvers, MA 01923.
