Susan (Walton) Jones, 73, of Holliston, formerly of Natick, passed away peacefully on Friday January 19th, 2018 surrounded by her family at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Susan was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is preceded in death by her parents Joseph P. and Geraldine (O’Neill) Walton. She grew up in Newton Center, attended Sacred Heart High School and received Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education from Framingham State University.
Susan married her childhood sweetheart, Edward L. Jones, Jr., in 1967 and they settled in Natick where she spent over 30 years teaching special education in the Natick and North Attleboro School systems as well as Quinobin, Joseph P. Keefe Technical High School and ITT Tech in Framingham.
First and foremost in her life was her love for time spent together with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Since retiring from teaching she also enjoyed golf, as well as volunteering with the Pine Street Inn, St. Mary’s Parish in Holliston and the Holliston Pantry Shelf. In recent years she truly enjoyed traveling to Spain to see her daughter Kathleen and her family. Sue & Ed most recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a party filled with friends and family followed by a special trip to Italy and Spain.
Susan is survived by her beloved husband Edward Jones, Jr., of Holliston, her son Edward (Ted) Jones III and his wife Tara of Natick, her daughter Kathleen Jones and her partner Elisa Carreto of Malaga, Spain, her daughter Meredith (Jones) Norton and her husband Michael of Framingham, her grandchildren Matthew, Ryan and Caitlin Jones, Alexander and Kyle Norton and Pedro Hafner, her dear cousin Judi (Glossa) Shade and her husband Gary of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; as well as many close friends that she considered her extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Friday January, 26th at 11:30 A.M in St Linus Church, 119 Hartford Street, Natick.
Visiting hours in the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common are Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
