Obituary

CHICOPEE – Michelle M. (Gagne) Nowak, 61, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on July 22, 1956, a beloved daughter of the late Ronald A. Gagne, Jr. who was Called Home on January 2, 2016 and Edna E. (LaPerle) Gagne of Chicopee. A lifelong resident of Chicopee, Michelle graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School in 1974. She furthered her education at Holyoke Community College where she attained an Associate’s Degree. Most of all, she was a loving homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Thomas R. “Toby” Nowak. They were married on February 14, 1997 and were blessed with over 20 years of happiness together in their home in the Willimansett section of Chicopee, where Michelle found peace and tranquility tending to her yard and garden. She was employed for over 37 years and was the office manager of the Holyoke News Company. Besides her loving mother and husband, Michelle is survived by her loving daughter, Charlotte A. (Cotton) Lynch of Chicopee; her two cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Penelope and Phoenix Lynch; her loving brother, Dennis D. Gagne and his wife, Christine “Tina” Gagne, of Northborough, MA; her two dear nieces, Emilie Gagne of Northborough and Ellen Gagne and her wife, Liz, of Manhattan, NY; and her many dear cousins, friends and extended members of the Nowak and Gagne families. Her family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon, January 25, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 4:30 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Her family requests that memorial donations may be made in Michelle’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
