Giuseppe “Joseph” Navetta, of Reading, formerly of Medford, passed away peacefully on January 20th at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 78.
Born in Sicily, Italy, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Marianna (Palmeri) Navetta.
Joseph was a family man and loved to spend quality time with his children and grandchildren. A talented cook, Joseph had a green thumb as well. You would find him in his garden where he would grow his own vegetables. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the Appian Club in Stoneham.
Joseph was the beloved husband of Angela (DiCarlo) Navetta. The two married on July 3, 1966 at St. Clement Church in Medford. Together they shared 51 years of loving marriage. Joseph was the devoted father of Joseph Navetta and his wife Emily of Groton, Marianne Tompkins and her husband Pat and Michael Navetta and his wife Michelle, all of Reading. He was the loving grandfather of Ben, Mitch, Ari, Evelyn and Michael Navetta, Daniel, Allison and Peter Tompkins. Joseph was the dear brother of Rose Biondo of Italy and Tina Accardi and her husband Tony of Peabody, the late Leonarda Leggio and Philip Nevetta. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main Street, Medford, on Wednesday, January 24th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner Street, Medford at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
