Obituary

Meany, Richard “Dick” of Falmouth, formerly of Wellesley, died on January 19, 2018 after a short illness. He was born and raised in Brookline, MA with his parents, the late Joseph and Margaret (Gunn) Meany and his late brother, Joseph.
 
Dick attended Brookline High School, Class of 1954, where he played football, hockey, track and baseball, and was Captain of his football team. He attended Northeastern University before becoming a plumbing contractor. He eventually served has the plumbing inspector in Wellesley. He taught plumbing classes at Newton North High School for many years as well. 

He enjoyed golf and fishing but most of all, he loved playing his piano. His music will be missed by all that knew him. 

Dick leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Janet (Carlisle), his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Thomas Caprarella of Millis, his son, Richard C. Meany and his partner, Barbara Powers of Natick and Falmouth, and his cousin, Marilyn Call and her husband, Bill, of Dedham. He was grandfather to Megan Dupre and her husband Neil, of Millis, MA, Thomas Caprarella and his finance, Emily Ashley, of Boulder, CO and Heather Meany of Framingham, MA. He recently became a great- grandfather to Olivia and Lucy Dupre.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt. 16) Wellesley, on Wednesday January 24 at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, Wellesley, at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 23, from 4-8pm. Private interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
