Obituary



Mary F. Shaw 77, of Brockton died quietly January 19, 2018 in St. Joseph Manor Brockton. She was the wife of Otto Shaw who died on January 8, 2018 and the late Paul Pittman. Mary was born and raised in South Boston and was a graduate of St. Augustine High School before moving to Brockton more than 55 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (McCarthy) Madden.

Mary was a born entertainer who loved to dance, sing and make people laugh. She so wanted to share her love of music and dance she became a dance instructor from her home. She was an accomplished artist; selling many of her works and had been commissioned to create a piece for Tom Jones. She will be remembered as well for her strong love and commitment to her husband, children, grandchildren and siblings.

Mary is survived by her children Paul M Pittman and his wife Norene of Brockton, Kenneth A. Pittman and his wife Andrea of North Dartmouth, Christine M. Hogan of Easton and Brenda Magliarditi of Brockton; her brother Joseph Madden of Brockton, sister Theresa Ryan of Dorchester and 14 grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Margaret Eunson and John Madden and was the former wife of Raymond Chisholm of Hyde Park.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday 4-8 pm in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton. A procession will form at the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30 am for a funeral mass in Christ the King Parish at 10:30 am. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery West Roxbury at a later date.
