Sutton: Harry A. Anderson, 96, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at home. He leaves several cousins and many close friends.
He was born on April 4, 1921 in Worcester, son of the late Carl O. and Anna (Carlson) Anderson. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1939 and Boys Trade School in 1941.
A veteran of WWII, he spent 4 years in the Coast Guard (1942-1946). Thanks to the G.I. Bill, after the war, he entered Northeastern University and was granted a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and later a Masters in Education from Worcester State College. Employment includes Norton Co, Crompton and Knowles, and ending with 30 years at Worcester Technical Institute (WITI).
An avid outdoorsman, he loved tramping through the woods with his old double barrel shotgun after partridge, fly fishing for trout and salmon, always on the alert to pick up any stray Indian arrowheads or mushroom.
He was a lifelong member of Salem Covenant Church in Worcester and a member of the Massachusetts Archeological Society for over 50 years.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harry's name may be made to Salem Covenant Church 215 East Mountain St. Worcester, MA 01606.
