Catherine T. (Corcoran) Quimby, age 89, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Blaire House of Milford after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of 45 years of Alfred G. Quimby who died in 1999.
Catherine was born in Brockton to Mary (Cribben) and Raymond Corcoran; she was predeceased by a brother, Raymond C. Corcoran who died in 2001; she is survived by a son, John and his wife, Anita Armstrong of St. Petersburg, FL, a daughter, Jean and her husband James B. Donohoe of Hopedale, MA, and three grandchildren: Christopher S. Quimby of Boston, Rita K. Donohoe of Somerville, and Theresa M. Donohoe of Brighton.
Catherine attended St. Patrick’s School and was a homemaker before being employed for many years as a secretary in the Brockton office of the Massachusetts Division of Employment Security until her retirement. She was active in women’s groups at St. Margaret’s parish and was a member of the Twentieth Century Catholic Club until her death. She enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod and in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with her family. Always proud of her Irish heritage, she made a pilgrimage to her ancestral homeland with her husband in 1983. She moved to Atria Draper Place in Hopedale in 2010 and to Blaire House of Milford in 2013.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Blaire House and Blaire Home Health for their professional and compassionate care for Catherine during her last years, and to the team at Compassionate Care Hospice for their support in her final days.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St, (rte. 123) Brockton on Sunday January 21 from 2-5pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 9am for a funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church, 103 North Main St. West Bridgewater at 10am. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
