Bobby Gene Hinson, 80, of Omega passed away Monday, January 15, 2018, at Navicent Health in Macon. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Lenox Church of God with the Rev. Brad McVea, the Rev. Dewayne Atkinson and the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Hinson will be laid to rest at Lenox City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 17, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. Hinson will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The family will be gathering at his home, 663 Lawyer Sumner Road in Omega.
Josh Sumner, Chad Cioban, J. T. Thomas, Blake Hinson, Thomas Sumner and Tommy Stone will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Doyle Sumner, Dr. David Johnson, Henry Crumley Jr., J .T. Barber, Dan Clements, Raydene Johnson, Gene Sumner, the Rev. Edward Rigby, the Rev. Robert Sorrow, Jerry Crumley, Jackie Crumley, Terry Pafford, Wendell Sumner, Ray Peele, Charles Sumner, the Rev. N. C. Spradley, Bobby Rowan, Calvin Hobbs and Gary Schofill.
Born December 21, 1937 in Omega, Mr. Hinson was the son of the late Jimmie Mitchell Hinson and Viola Shivers Hinson. He was also preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Hinson. During his working life, he was manager of Adcock Pecans and service technician at Sears in Tifton; owner and operator of Lenox Tire and Appliance Center; and a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Lenox Church of God and loved the church, singing in the choir and working for the church. He dearly loved his family and friends.
Mr. Hinson is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Donna Hinson of Omega; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Dwight Sumner of Tifton and Sherry and Mike Owens of Lenox; his fiancé, Lillian McClelland of Lenox; one brother, Jimmie Hinson of Lenox; two sisters, Mary Sumner and Libby Stone, both of Omega; five grandchildren and their spouses, Hannah and Chad Cioban, Josh and Angel Sumner, Raina and J. T. Thomas, Blake and Allie Hinson and Brandie Hinson; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Caroline, Avery, Big Ben, Little Ben and Baby Penelope, due in March.
