Hurley, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Connors), 91, of Milton and West Hyannisport, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2018 after a long illness. Born in Cambridge, Mrs. Hurley was raised in Somerville, MA and was a graduate of Somerville High School and Boston University. She had worked as an Administrative Assistant and later as a sales clerk at Lord & Taylor. A consummate mother and homemaker, her greatest joy was as mother to her three loving children. Betty was a devoted volunteer at St. Elizabeth Church in Milton for many years and also volunteered for Meals on Wheels . She loved to knit,and was an avid Red Sox fan, as well as a talented artist and bridge player. Betty thoroughly enjoyed entertaining and was always happiest when surrounded by family and friends.
She was the beloved wife of 66 years of the late John F. Hurley and devoted mother of John D. Hurley and his wife Sue Ann of Kingston, MaryBeth Barr and her husband Dave of Newburyport, and Christopher J. Hurley and his wife Jennifer of Austin, TX , as well as, the cherished grandmother of Michael, Daniel, Christopher and John Hurley and the late Colleen Wells. Betty is survived by her sister-in-law of Marge Connors of FL, and predeceased by her twin sister Anne and her sisters Mary Cagna and Helen Freber and brothers Jack Connors and Rev. Joseph Martin Connors. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Church, Milton, Monday morning, January 22nd at 10. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation, 110 East 42nd St., New York, NY 10017.
