Jean Claire Hamilton (Benson) of Stoughton formerly of Canton and Hyde Park passed away on January 13, 2018 at Baypoint Skilled Nursing Home in Brockton, MA, she was 87. Born in Stoneham she moved to Hyde Park as a child where she attended Hyde Park High before moving to Canton in 1972. Jean worked in the administrative offices for Harvard University and Blue Hills Technical School and was a Para Legal for the Shagoury Law Firm in Hyde Park Jean was also an active member in the First Congregational Church of Stoughton, the COA of Stoughton and for many years volunteered at local hospitals, the USO, and prison ministries. Jean and her husband, Donald were "snowbirds" leaving the Massachusetts winters for Clearwater, Florida, following their retirement they resided in Clearwater for many years. Beloved wife of the late Donald E Hamilton. Loving mother of Luke of CA, Paul of Bourne, Donald of Brockton, Scott of Quincy, Donna of Sandwich, Linda of Stoughton, Lisa of Stoughton and the late Robert. Sister of the late William and David Benson and the late Elaine Landers. She is survived by her cherished 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
Visitation will be held in the First Congregational Church of Stoughton, 76 Pierce St., Stoughton, MA on Thursday from 9-11am followed by a Funeral Service at 11am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in Jean’s memory can be made to First Congregational Church of Stoughton, 76 Pierce St. Stoughton, MA 02072. A private interment will be held at a later date in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne.
