Joan F. Gosselin, 66, of Mapleville, formerly of Richelieu St. Woonsocket, died Saturday December 23, 2017 at Pawtucket Skilled Nursing Center in Pawtucket. She was the wife of the late Donald Poisson.
Born in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Normand and Florence (Lajoie) Gosselin. She was a resident of Woonsocket for most of her life and lived in Mapleville for the past several years.
Joan received her Associate’s Degree from Fisher Junior College and was employed as a CNA at Mt. St. Francis Health Care Center in Woonsocket.
Joan was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church and was also active at Holy Family Church. She taught CCD, served as a Eucharistic minister and sang with the choir. Joan also volunteered her time at the Woonsocket Senior Center. She also cared for family members during their elder years. Joan will be remembered as being loving and devoted to her family, dedicated to her faith and generous with her time and talents.
Joan is survived by a daughter Cathy Benoit of Mapelville. She was the grandmother of Megan Symynkywicz. She was the sister of Roland Gosselin of New Jersey and is also survived by her nephew and nieces Robbie Gosselin, Jill Ciarfella, Joy Long.
Her funeral will be Friday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, Second Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-8 pm.
