JOSEPH PETER ESTES
SACO-Joseph Peter Estes, 59, from Saco, died peacefully on January 11, 2018 at Pine Point Nursing Facility in Scarborough after a short but intense period of Pancreatic Cancer.
He was born in Portland on March 31, 1958 to Eugene E., Sr and Emily (McGinty) Estes.. He grew up in the North Deering neighborhood and attended schools in that area through the ninth grade. In 1973 his father remarried after the death of Emily. They moved to Scarborough where he graduated from Scarborough High School in1976. While in school he was a Volunteer Fire Fighter for the Scarborough Fire Department.
Joe held and assortment of jobs throughout his life. Along with various temporary positions he worked at Jordan Meats for over 5 years and at the Woodburners Den installing heating equipment with his friend, Larry Johnson. Joseph was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, Leroy and Emily (Hawkes) Estes,; grandmother, Amanda (Jorgenson)McGinty;
Stepmother, Dorothy( Emerson) Estes; his older brother, E Evans Estes, Jr; brother in law, Paul R Dube, Jr; all his maternal and paternal aunts and uncles; cousin Nancy (McGinty) Neely and step sister, Muriel Rosa.
Joseph is survived by one Great Aunt, Eleanor Hawkes of Westbrook; his brother, James (Margy) Estes and their children Meaghan (Ricky) Laverdure and their children, Zoe, Luca, Lilah, Julia and Darla and Thomas Estes and his companion, April all from Oak Ridge, TN.
His Sister Jeanne A Dube of South Portland; nephews Paul R. Dube III; Michael (Gretchen Stone) Dube and their children
Lavinia and Michael Isaac Dube. Niece Crystal (Dube) her husband, LaMont Brown and children, Tavian, Amare, Jakoya and Keelon; sister-in-law Emilie (Cole) Estes.
Also surviving are step siblings and their families, Peter and Beth DeSimon, Sonny and Viola Emerson; Red and Margie Crossman; and Nancy. First cousins and their families David and Mary McGinty; Wayne and Patty McGinty; Joanne Flaherty; Ellen and Crimmin; Marleen and Charles Grover; Mark and Debbie McGinty; Robert and Sandy Estes and Pamela Davis.
Joe also leaves his longtime good friend Curt Steiner of Alaska. And Larry Johnson and his children Melinda and Michael.
Arrangements are being provided by Chad E Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service in Buxton. There will be a graveside service at Smith Cemetery, Windham in the spring.
The Family is grateful for the care Joe received at Maine Medical Center,, Pine Point Nursing Facility and Hospice of Southern Maine. And the City of Saco Rescue. Joseph requested that. in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Maine Cancer Association and specify it is for Research for Pancreatic Cancer.
