Miriam T. “Mickey” Kohn, 87, of Waterman Avenue, died October 23 at Elmhurst Extended Care, Providence.
Born in New York, she was a daughter of the late Isadore and Sarah (Abramowitz) Toubin.
In her earlier years, she attended New York University and during WW II, she was a Lieutenant and member of the Motorcade in the Red Cross. After the War, she became a buyer for Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue. Upon moving to R.I., she was a volunteer at Caritas House.
During the 1970s, through her catering business Mrs. Kohn baked all of the desserts for Rue de l’Espoir & Panache restaurants, which her daughter co-owned. In her late seventies Mrs. Kohn practiced real estate, and prior to retiring she was a lecturer for Weight Watchers in Florida.
She is survived by her daughter, Grace Kohn of Cranston; a granddaughter, Samantha Kohn of Cranston; two sisters, Eleanor Greenberg of Florida, Juliet Saunders of California and a brother, George Toubin of Holland.
Her funeral will be private. A memorial celebration will be held on December 3, 2005, 12:00 noon - 3:00 p.m. at the new Save the Bay location at 100 Save the Bay Drive, Providence, R.I. (For directions, call 401-272-3540.)
