Irene M. Hicks, 89, of Londonderry, NH, died Monday January 8, 2018 in the Elliot Hospital surrounded by family in Manchester, NH. She was born in Derry, NH on April 23, 1928, a daughter of Donald and Nina (Kingsbury) Butterfield, Sr. Raised in Derry, she was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy, Class of 1946. Mrs. Hicks was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #27 in Londonderry. Irene was "famous" for her apple pies sold at Sunnycrest Farms.
She is survived by two daughters, Penny L. Hicks, and Judith A. Shaver and husband Robert, both of Londonderry; five grandchildren, Shawn Cummings and wife Lisa, Tammy Berard and husband Eric, Adam Gould and his partner Wendi, Rebecca Groulx and husband Thomas, Jennifer Roach and husband Colin; nine great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and a large extended family. She was predeceased by her husband, George "Bud" Hicks in 2012, and her siblings, Donald Butterfield, Jr., and Norma Lee Holmes.
Following cremation, a calling hour was held on Friday, January 12th from 5 - 6pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. A memorial service followed at 6:00pm in the funeral home. The burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Londonderry in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, PO Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839, or the family asks that a Random Act of Kindness be performed.
