Marie (Rota) D’Andrea of Quincy, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2018 at the age of 90. She was the only daughter of the late John and Florence Rota. Raised in Mattapan, Marie lived most of her life in Quincy. She enjoyed a lengthy career with State Street Bank and once retired, became an active member of the St. John’s Seniors Club where she served for many years as the club president. A world traveler, she particularly enjoyed the many cruises that she took with her husband Rico. Marie loved to paint and knit and her house was adorned with her artwork. An avid reader, she most enjoyed her Catherine Cookson books.
Marie was kind hearted, compassionate, always upbeat and optimistic and was never shy to voice an opinion. She adored her family. Marie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 66 years, Americo (Rico) D’Andrea. Beloved mother of James (Jim) D’Andrea and his wife Lynne of Braintree. Loving Grandmother of Derek D’Andrea and his fiancée Nicole Dolan and cherished Great Grandmother to Aliyah and Anthony. Predeceased by her brothers Louis Rota of Marlborough, Daniel Rota of Quincy, and John Rota of Jaffrey, NH, Marie is also survived by her brothers William and his wife Wendy of Taunton, Francis (Cesci) and his wife Carol of Randolph, George and his wife Judy of Randolph and her many loving nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, No. Quincy on Saturday morning, January 13, 2018 at 10. Visiting hours will be held at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
