LONDONDERRY, NH - Hope T. (King) DiPalma, R.N., age 90, died peacefully on Sunday morning, January 7, at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Home in Tilton, NH, where she had been in residence and in exceptional care for the past five years. She was the beloved wife of Frank M. DiPalma, who died in 1987.
Hope was born in Arlington, MA, on January 3, 1928, a daughter of the late Nelson J. and Mary L. (Reddden) King, and raised in Arlington. She graduated from Arlington High School with the Class of 1945, and entered into the Waltham Hospital School of Nursing. She was certified as a Registered Nurse in 1948, and enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, Nursing Corps, in October 1950. She served in Barksdale S.A.C. Air Base in Louisiana, and the 7505th U.S. Hospital Base in Swindon, England. After her honorable discharge in November 1952, she worked as a Civilian Nurse at Matha A.F.B., and the Oakland VA Hospital both in California. She came back east and worked at the Boston VA and the Bedford VA Hospitals. Between VA assignments, she served as a private duty nurse in the greater Boston hospitals.
She raised her family in Tewksbury from 1968, until her retirement to Londonderry in 1996. As a resident of Tewksbury, she was a communicant of St. Dorothy’s Church in Wilmington.
She leaves three children, Melissa Yurek and her husband Michael of Deerfield, NH, Hope “Gigi” Kelly and her husband William, of Londonderry, with whom she resided in retirement, and Francis Mark DiPalma and his wife Maureen (Keane) DiPalma of Tewksbury; ten grandchildren; Brian Yurek and his wife Nicole, Rebecca, Sarah Ann, Emily, Eden, and Joy Yurek, Kathleen (Kelly) Patterson and her husband Timothy, Joseph Kelly, Elizabeth and Meaghan DiPalma; 4 great grandchildren; Madeleine, Victor, Aria and Micah; and several close nieces and nephews and was predeceased by her sisters and brothers: Agnes, Gladys, Helen, Marguerite, Beatrice, Louise and Nelson
Visiting hours Wednesday, Jan.10, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte. 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950. Her funeral will begin Thursday at 8:45 am from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass Thursday, Jan. 11, at 10:00 am in St. Dorothy’s Church, corner of Harnden and Main Sts. (Rte. 38) Wilmington. Burial with U.S.A.F. Honors will follow in Tewksbury Cemetery.
