Julia Sanders Williamson, 81, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, October 29, 2005, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. J.A. Clements, Rev. Jerry Wilson and Rev. Ike Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Dorminy Mill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 until 9, Friday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williamson was born November 8, 1923, in Ridge Top, Tennessee to the late Earl and Minnie Wilson Sanders. She worked as a Telephone Operator since the age of 18, working in Monroe, LA, Beaumont, TX, Indianapolis, IN, Greenbrier, TN and Madison TN, retiring from Southeastern Bell in Nashville, TN. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Mrs. Williamson moved to Fitzgerald in 1980 from Tennessee. She was a member of the WMU and Dorminy Mill Baptist Church, where she was a children’s Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. Williamson is survived by her husband: J.W. Williamson of Fitzgerald; daughter: Diane (David) Williams of Springfield, TN; son: Bill (Lisa) Bales of Adams, TN; stepdaughter: Bonnie (Stephen) Dugger-Griffin of Fitzgerald; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brother: Everette Sanders of Greenbrier, TN. She was preceded in death by husbands, W.C. Padgette and Joe Maye and a sister, Edna McLemore.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Blue-Gray Community Hospice, P.O. Box 1447, Fitzgerald, GA 31750.
