Jerry Eugene Ivey, 60, of Tifton passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Independent Worship Center in Tifton with the Rev. Tim Henry officiating. Mr. Ivey will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 6, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Jeff Carmichael, Donald Woods, Mike Moore, Josh Pressley, Austin Ivey and Eddie McDonald III will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 8, 1957 in Tifton, Mr. Ivey was the son of Mary Alice Kendrick Ivey Townsend of Valdosta and Loyad Eugene Ivey and his wife, Mary Ann Luke Ivey of Hahira. He was employed at Harvey’s Supermarket in Tifton and was a member of Independent Worship Center in Tifton. He loved genealogy, racing and visiting the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ivey is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Purvis Ivey of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Wendy Michelle and Josh Pressley of Tifton; one sister, Maryann Ivey Zeigler of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Austin Ivey, Alexis Ivey, McKenna Pressley, Brylee Pressley and Addison Pressley; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Dianne Purvis; his nieces and nephews and their spouses, Justin and Amy Zeigler, special niece Ryann Purvis Barong and husband Paul, Chris and Alisha Purvis and Jacob Purvis; three great-nieces; and a great-nephew. He is also survived by his special cousins, Keith and Karla Kendrick and a special nephew, Stephen Kendrick; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bo and Lit Purvis of Tifton.
