Laural J. (Pittsley) Benson, 85, of New Bedford, died December 30, 2017 at The Oaks after a long illness. She was the wife of the late LeRoy Gross and Richard Benson.
Born in Taunton, the daughter of the late James Pittsley, Sr. and Doris (Meack) Pittsley, she lived in Freetown and New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Benson was formerly employed by Alberox for 15 years until her retirement.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, bingo, scratch tickets, crocheting and the casino.
Survivors include 2 sons, David Gross of Freetown and LeRoy Gross, Jr. of Taunton; 5 daughters, Martha Lucas and Debra DeMoranville, both of Freetown, Elaine Pendergast and Robin Pinard, both of New Bedford and Diane Silvia of Fall River; a brother, James Pittsley, of Taunton; 2 sisters, Doris Baker and Lois Perry, both of Freetown; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Sandra Wetherell, grandmother of the late Kenneth Wetherell, Jamie DeMoranville and Kyle Pendergast, and sister of the late Wayne Pittsley and Myrtle Gross.
