George R. Bois, 82, of New Bedford died December 31, 2017 at Sippican Healthcare Center after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Mae L. (Phelan) Bois.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Omer J. and Beatrice C. (Fredette) Bois, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Bois was formerly employed by Payne Cutlery and Rodney Metals for many years until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, trips to Foxwoods and Atlantic City, classic muscle cars and was the past president of City Car Club. He was an avid New England sports fan.
Mr. Bois overcame childhood polio to thrive in life.
Survivors include his 2 sons, William Bois and his wife Miriam of Bel Alton, MD and Andrew Bois of New Bedford; a daughter, Michelle Bois Hernandez of Miami; 5 grandchildren, Hayley, Cara, Bianca, Erica and Zachary; a great-grandson, Maverick; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Omer Bois, Jr. and Arthur Bois.
