WORCESTER-Michael R. Hickey of Worcester, a former longtime resident of Milford, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2017. He was 62.
Michael was born in Milford, son of Joseph and Claire (Gauthier) Hickey and was a graduate of Milford High School & Nichols College. He worked many years in the business sector before transitioning into human services, helping those less fortunate in the Worcester area. Michael recently retired from the Quinsigamond Village Community Center where he was director of the food pantry. Prior to that, Michael worked with Community Health Link for several years. Michael was an avid golfer and runner, participating in many marathons, including Boston and the Marine Corps. Michael loved his family, particularly his grandsons.
Michael is survived by his sons Joseph Hickey & his wife Leslie of Bellingham, Jonathan Casey Hickey of Ripon, WI, his brother Paul Hickey & his wife Kathy of Milford, his grandsons Joseph Hickey Jr. & Robert, and his close friend Maura Hogan of Paxton. Michael is predeceased by his son Patrick Hickey.
Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Quinsigamond Village Community Center, 16 Greenwood St, Worcester, MA 01607. Arrangements are in the care of CALLAHAN FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle Street, Worcester. God speed, Michael.
