SACO- Dena Lewis Lord, age 90, passed away on Dec. 31, 2017 in Saco.
She was born in Sebago, Maine on Nov. 11, 1927, a daughter of the late Guy and Lendora (Mullen) Lewis. After graduating from Potter Academy in Sebago in 1945, she went on to attend and graduate from Gorham State Teachers College in 1949. She then received her Master’s Degree from Boston University.
She taught Junior High School in Rye, NH and Beverly, MA and Social Studies in Lexington, MA for several years.
Dena played the piano for church services for many years and led choirs in singing cantatas. She was an active member of the Sebago Church of the Nazarene, the Andover Baptist Church, and Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA.
She married her husband- Charles Lord in 1969.
Dena and Charles resided in Hampton, VA while he was still in the Air Force. They then moved to Andover, MA for many years before moving to Saco, ME. Both Dena and her husband supported orphans through the World Vision program for many years.
Dena is survived by her loving husband- Charles Lord of Saco; sister- Elvira Usher and her husband Eugene of Andover, MA; a beloved nephew- Jonathan Usher and his wife Lisa of Limington and their children Darren Jeffries, Shannon Usher, twins Dawson and Tegan, and Brenden Usher; Darren’s son Desmond Jeffries of Limington; and several cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6 from 1 – 2 PM at the Sebago Center Community Church, 403 Bridgton Road in Sebago, followed by a 2 PM funeral service at the church.
