Harry B. Haddock
...retired from New England Telephone, yachtsman; age 80
TEWKSBURY - Harry B. Haddock, age 80, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 26, at the
Blairehouse of Tewksbury following a brief illness. He was the husband of Leta M. “Lee”
(Wood) Haddock, with whom he had celebrated a 57th wedding anniversary this past Sept. 11th.
He was born in Lubec, Maine, on January 6, 1925, a son of the late Leroy and Mary (Robinson)
Haddock. Following the death of his mother in his early youth, he was raised by his step-mother,
Christina (Stewart) Haddock. He lived in Jamaica Plain until entering the U.S. Navy.
He served in the Navy as an Aviation Mechanic during WW2.
He lived in Brighton from 1948 until moving to Tewksbury in 1954, where he had remained for
the past 51 years.
Prior to retirement in 1982, he worked for New England Telephone and Telegraph, where he
retired as a foreman.
Mr. Haddock was an avid sailor, and owner of the Bristol yacht “Silverfish,” which he based at
Palmer Cove Yacht Club in Salem, MA. He frequently sailed “downeast” to Maine, and had also
captained in the Carribean. In his later years, he spent many winters golfing with his wife in
Florida, and later, in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Mr. Haddock was an active member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church, and a member of
the Wamesit Lodge, AF & AM.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Lecuyer and her husband
David of Tewksbury; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Haddock and his wife Gail (LaBonte)
of Tewksbury, and William Haddock and his wife Lynne (Davis) of Falmouth, ME; six
grandchildren, Erik Lecuyer and his wife Jessica of Billerica, Nicole Lecuyer of Huntersville, NC,
Stephen Haddock of Brighton, Melissa Haddock of Tewksbury, Riley Haddock and Craig
Haddock both of Falmouth, ME; two great grandchildren, Cody and Rhiannon Lecuyer both of
Billerica; a sister, Margaret Bonafede of Dorchester, and many nieces and nephews.
He was also brother of the late Leroy Haddock and Donald Haddock.
His funeral service was held Saturday, Oct. 29, in the Tewksbury Congregational
Church, followed by interment in Tewksbury
