Antonio E. Harrises
Manchester– Antonio E. Harrises, 91, died December 29, 2017 at Hanover Hill Nursing Home following a brief illness.
He was born in Manchester on September 12, 1926 the son of Efthemious and Gramato (Karageorge) Harrises.
He was a graduate of Manchester Central High School as well as captain of the basketball team.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from St. Anselm College, Masters Degree from UNH and his Doctorate from Notre Dame in South Bend Indiana.
Prior to his retirement he was a Professor of Biology, Microbiology and Parasitology at the University of Southern Mississippi and Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Dennig) Harrises on November 14, 2003.
Family members include three sons, Anthony Harrises, Gregory Harrises and his wife, Deborah, Stephen Harrises and partner, Kevin Fleury, and former wife, Jennifer Harrises, all of Manchester, Susan Harrises and her husband, Robert Davis of Hebron, Sally Johnson and her husband, Robert of Palm Coast, Florida, five grandchildren, Amanda, Emily, Alexander, Zachary, Oliver, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Harrises.
He was also predeceased by two brothers, John Harrises and George Harrises, and a sister-in-law, Beverly.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge Street. A Trisagion service will be held at 6:00 pm during calling hours.
A funeral service will be celebrated at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Hanover Street on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at 10:00 am.
Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
