Mr. Ralph Williams was born to the late Hayward and Louvenia Williams on September 11, 1940 in Palmetto, Ga.
He attended South Fulton High School in East Point, Georgia. He joined Ramah Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. J. S. Hammonds.
In 1965, he move to Worcester, Massachusetts. He was married to Vera (Rainwater) Williams.
He leaves to cherish his sons: George R. Williams of Palmetto, GA, Edward L. Williams, and Russell H. Williams of Worcester ; and daughters: Marjorie Rainwater and Donna D. (Williams ) Fanion of Worcester and Gail Williams Rainwater of Jonesboro, GA. Sisters: Hazel Miller, Emily L. Collier, Alice and her husband Rev. W. J. Reese; Brothers Rev. Hayward Williams Jr. and his wife Ann and Rev. Lawrence Williams and his wife Emma and a host of relatives, extended family and friends.
Grandchildren-Tony Williams and his wife Elira, Shanice Nelson, Russell Williams, and Rachel Williams. John Rainwater and his wife Maria, James Rainwater and his wife Say, Jose Rainwater and his wife Melinda, and Rico Rainwater.
Great-Grandchildren- Ariyanna, Tashari, Kane, Justice, Tyler, Megan, Samara, Calvin, Cassidy, Quimel, Ricardo, Ranezmay, Daquan, Tony, Legacy, Jayden, Isaiah, Kiara, Dutch, and Dajiah.
He was a general contractor for years, and retired in 2006 due to illness. Ralph was a member of the Bricklayers Local 3 Union.
He enjoyed playing basketball at the YMCA and area parks in Worcester where he got the nickname “Old Man” because he was the oldest on the court and the best....
Ralph was a fan of the Boston Celtics and New England Patriots. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a very kind man.
He preceded by a daughter in law Diane M. (Goretti) Williams, a sister Airlene Williams, brother in laws Rev. Curtis Miller and Clyde Collier, a son Arthur Rainwater Sr, Grandsons Arthur Rainwater Jr, Antonio Rainwater, and David Williams.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 6th at 11:00 AM in O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue. A calling hour will be held from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
