CAPTAIN GEORGE ERNEST JONES, JR., 71
NEW BEDFORD - Capt. George E. Jones Jr., 71, of Dartmouth passed away Saturday December, 23, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital with his daughter by his side.
Son of the late Capt. George E. Jones, Sr. and Clothilde (Simas) Jones, he grew up New Bedford before settling in Dartmouth. George was a proud commercial scallop fishing captain and boat owner who cherished his loving and grateful family.
He is survived by his son Brian Jones; his daughter Kelly Jones and her companion Carlos Raposo; his grandchildren Joshua Jones, Jessica Burgos and her fiancé Hector Pizarro, Aaliyah Raposo, Alex Jones and Patrick Jones; his great-grandchildren, Amiyah and Hector Pizarro, Jr.; his sister Phyllis; his sister-in-law Pauline; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Capt. George E. Jones III, grandfather of the late Jareana Raposo and brother of the late Cheryl Rasmussen.
His graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd at 11:30 AM at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
