J. C. Spikes, 78, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, December 29, 2017, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Sim Youngblood officiating.
Mr. Spikes was born July 31, 1939, in Atkinson County, Georgia, to the late Charlie & Willie Mae White Spikes. He lived in the community most of his life and was owner and operator of Spikes Grocery and JC’s Cash & Carry. He also drove a bus for the Ben Hill County School System. Mr. Spikes enjoyed fishing and he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Spikes of Fitzgerald; a son, Joey Spikes of Fitzgerald and a sister, Beulah Tomlinson Moon & Ray of Pearson. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: John Henry Spikes, Charlie Spikes, Jr. and Harvey Allen Spikes, Sr.
