Obituary

Theresa C. (Raymond) Lajoie, 90, of Salem, passed away December 25, 2017 at the Abbott House in Lynn following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Arthur J. Lajoie
Born in Van Buren, Maine and raised in Keegan, Maine she was the daughter of the late Alphee and Rose (Rioux) Raymond. Theresa and Arthur married in 1948 and lived in Alabama for a short period before moving to Boston. The couple settled in Salem in 1954, where she worked waitressing for the Salem Diner. She devoted her next years to her family and did much volunteer work for the former St. Joseph Parish and School. Theresa eventually worked part time at the parish rectory and retired in 1992.
Theresa was devoted to her family and her extended family. She had a generous spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, and a great gift of gab.
She is survived by her son, Raymond J. Lajoie and his daughter, Mellissa T. Lajoie both of Salem, a brother Gilbert Raymond of Florida as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Imelda G. Dion, Marie G. Voisine, Evelyn Raymond, Lucille Lezenski and brothers, Gerald, Lucien “Bill” and Joseph “Pete” Raymond.
Relatives and friends are invited to her calling hours at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, to be followed by her Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd., Salem at 11:00 AM.
