Obituary

CHICOPEE – Josephine A. (Ambrosetti) Gallant, 98, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, December 16, 2017. She passed into Eternal Life at Catholic Memorial Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitative Care in Fall River, MA surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Newport, Rhode Island on April 23, 1919, a beloved daughter of the late Luigi and Madelena (Rolando) Ambrosetti. She was raised in Newport, graduated from Rodgers High School in Newport and had moved to Chicopee in 1946 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed for many years as a Small Claims Clerk for the Chicopee District Court. She was a former communicant of the former Saint Patrick Church in Chicopee Falls where she served as Chairwoman for many years of the Annual Catholic Appeal. An avid dog lover, she was active in many dog obedience clubs. She was a member and Past President of the Holyoke Dog Obedience Club and the New England Association of Dog Obedience Clubs and Judges. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family, her many friends and her canine companions. She leaves her two loving children, R. Bruce Gallant and his wife, Elizabeth, of Norton, MA and Linda Parlee-Chowns and her husband, Charles Chowns, of Lederach, PA; her cherished grandson, Christopher Gallant of Nantucket; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. In addition to her beloved parents, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, John Ambrosetti; and her dear sister, Theresa Meunier. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, January 3, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
