MEADOR, Donald Kern, 86, of Louisville, passed away Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Masonic Home.
Don retried from General Electric after almost 40 years of service as a Quality Control Technician, Research and Development. He had also been an Aircraft Instrument Technician with the US AIr Force. He was a 50 year member of Buechel Lodge #896 F & AM, the Louisville Scottish Rite, and the Louisville Kosair Shrine, where he was active with the Flying Fez Unit. He was a member of the Louisville Aero Club and and the Bonnycastle Club.
Don loved flying private pilot aircraft, single and multi-engine. He enjoyed camping, boating, swimming, water skiing, and fishing. Don enjoyed life, partying and socializing with old and new friends.
Don is preceded in death by his wife, Irene T. Meador; newborn daughter, Theresa Lee Meador; daughter, Vickie Ann Meador; and special lady friend Laverne Wilding.
He is survived by his granddaughter, Carrie Ann Mitchell, special lady friends, Phyllis Flamm and Barbara Verbeke; and friends, John Buffet, Larry Montgomery, Don and Mackie Pack, Richard and Delori Prather, Carol Webb, John and Angie, and many others.
Services will be private. Owen Funeral Home - Jeffersontown entrusted with arrangements.
