Obituary

Raymond D. "Ray" Hills, 87, of Anderson died December 23, 2017 after an extended illness.
He was born, June 22, 1930 in Alliance, Ohio, the son of Harold S. and Alice (Micham) Hills.
He served in the United States Army in the Medical Corps during the Korean War.
He worked for Schleyer Pump Company from 1959-1966; Warner Gear from 1966 to 1970; then he was a draftsman and engineer at Schwitzer in Indianapolis before retiring in 1995.
Ray graduated from Barberton High School in Ohio, Anderson College with a bachelor's degree and Anderson College School of Theology in 1962. Ray met Martha Susan McVicker on the church bus going from Anderson College to the Church of God congregation now known as Maple Grove Church of God, and they were married at that church on September 9, 1955. They were faithful, extremely active members from 1953 until their respective deaths. Ray loved studying the Bible, particularly in the original Greek and Hebrew. He was a lifelong baseball fan, but also enjoyed watching Colts football.
He is survived by his three sons and two daughters-in-law: Marvin (Beth) of Mishawaka IN, Tom (Teri) of Hermitage, TN; and Jeffrey Hills of Anderson; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha on August 6, 2006 and his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Maple Grove Church of God, 2729 East 38th Street with Pastor Steve DeLisle officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Bible Society.
