Anthony Matysczak
Beloved husband, father, and grandfather

TEWKSBURY: Anthony Matysczak, age 66, a resident of Tewksbury for 38 years, passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital, on Saturday, December 23, 2017, following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the beloved husband of Helen (Smith) Matysczak, with whom he would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on January 6, 2018.

Born in Bridgeport, CT on September 10, 1951, he was the son of the late Bernard Matysczak and the late Anne (Macol) Matysczak.

He attended Bridgeport schools and graduated from Central High School in 1969.

Following high school, he attended the Connecticut School of Electronics, and later the University of Lowell (U.Mass-Lowell).

Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Quality Control Manager in various industries including Wang Laboratories and Ophir Optics Corporation.

Anthony was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and competing in trap shooting events.

He was a member of the Nashoba Sportsman’s Club in Acton, and the Knights of Kaleva in Littleton.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Jennifer C. Bergeron and her husband Steven R. of Dracut, and Mary C. Alleva and her husband Michael J. of Haverhill; four grandchildren, Jason Anthony Bergeron, Macey Anne Bergeron, Joseph Michael Alleva, and Catherine Mae Alleva; one brother, Stephen Matysczak and his wife Linda of Milford, CT; two sisters-in-law, Cora Smith and her husband Paul of Kansas City, MO and Alice Carter of Strafford, CT. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Dec. 27, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. His funeral procession will begin on Thursday, Dec. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Kindly OMIT Flowers.
