Wayne H.E. "Chipo" Davis, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 68 years of age.
Chipo was born in Davenport, Iowa on June 12, 1949, a son of the late Wayne Davis and Marjorie (Hickey) Davis. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1967. Chipo was a member of Teamsters Union Local #25 and worked as a truck driver for Dowd Paper Company for 30 years until his retirement. He was an avid sports fan and was a former coach and Vice President of Charlestown Little League.
Chipo is the devoted father of Brian Davis and his partner Odete Sousa of Medford. He is the beloved brother of Patricia Powers and her husband Steve of East Boston who both took great care of Chipo during his illness, Charlene Mills and her husband Tom of Nevada, and the late Stephen Davis. He is the loving Papa to Zoey and Kaylyn. He is the former husband of the late Jean Whitehouse. He is the beloved nephew of Marilyn Coffey of Quincy. He is the lifelong best friend of Eddie Greatorex and his wife Sissy. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Chipo's visiting hours on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 4 to 8 P.M. with his Funeral Service at 7:30 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial will be private.
