Lionel Soares, Jr., 72, of Westport, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Nancy A. (Botelho) Soares.
Mr. Soares was born in New Bedford, son of the late Lionel and Helen (Oliver) Soares and had been a longtime resident of Westport. He had worked for K.R. Rezendes in Assonet as a truck driver up until his retirement. He was an avid sportsman who loved antiques and classic cars. Most of all though, Mr. Soares enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his son: Donald Soares and his fiancé Pamela Costa of Westport; his 2 daughters: Heidi S. West and her husband Brian of Westport and Sandy Rogers of Acushnet; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his companion: Karen Murray; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Robert Soares.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Potter Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 P.M.
Interment will be in Assonet Burying Ground, Assonet.
